Trek to SD

Well we took a major trek to SD over the weekend.  Of course it started out like this with a beautiful snow the night before/morning we left

But then it cleared up and we have a great mini-trip.  The Wildman and Princess made the 6.5 hour trek to Grandma and Grandpa Kougl’s place in Timber Lake (back home SD).   We had an impromptu birthday party for the Princess as she is turning 3 in just a few days!

The kids got to have plenty of cousin time and grandparent time!  No tears were even shed as we left for the rest of the trip to Sioux Falls!  Impressive!

So The Rancher and I had our first minutes away from the kids in nearly 3 months (mind you, we are both home with them 24 hours a day/7 days a week in a 1 room bunkhouse!).  So here we go, Roadtrip!  Crank up the tunes, grab some snacks and we are off.  We managed to cover 1500 miles in 5 days, saw tons of old friends, met some new ones and had a great surprise!

The Engagement Party we were going to for our good friend Lacey Cooper (she is the one who set up the gofundme site for the fire), turned into a Surprise Wedding!  Here are a few pictures!

What a fun surprise!  They also surprised us with a donation to the Fire Relief Fund instead of doing the normal dollar dance and garter auction.  Talk about bringing us to tears, these are two of the biggest hearted people I know.

Congrats to the happy couple and we are so blessed to be a part of your day!

Billie’s Song

Although several years have past since my rodeo days this family will always touch hearts around the nation, especially in the rodeo world.  They have been through so much and stood together helping each other through.  I’m very proud to say that I had the opportunity to grow up in the world of rodeo with both Rehme Sutton and her brother Billy Sutton and that they are from our great home state of South Dakota.  These two siblings are the definition of South Dakota people:  They never give up on their dreams, work & play hard, and love unconditionally.

I would explain more about these two and their family but really all you need to do is listen to “Billie’s Song” and watch the video.

Rehme is working on touring her first album, so please check her out.

We wish both of them the best and know that they will always succeed in everything they do.  Let both of these talented individuals be an inspiration to us all.
